Srinagar, Nov 06 (KNO): Blaming former Congress regimes for Kashmir remaining in a mess for three decades, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said that PM Modi led dispensation crushed terrorists and their masters with an iron fist. Addressing a public rally at Madhubani, Shah, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, “Erstwhile Congress governments were responsible for the rise of terrorism in Kashmir. They didn’t take the issue seriously but the present regime has crushed terrorism and its roots.” He said, “During the tenure of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh no action was taken against terrorists who infiltrated into India and previous governments treated such elements leniently.” “During the Congress regime, under Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh, Pakistani terrorists would enter the country, plant bombs and escape. No action was taken against them. They were offered Biryani,” Shah said, adding, “In PM Modi’s rule, terrorism has been crushed and the government has ensured national security.” Referring to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, Shah said, “After terrorists killed civilians, Prime Minister Narendra Modi ordered Operation Sindoor within 20 days. We entered Pakistan’s territory and eliminated the terrorists.” He said that under the present government, any attack or provocation from across the border would be met with a strong response. “If terrorists fire bullets, they will be answered with shells,” Shah said. Announcing a new development initiative for the region, the Home Minister said that a defence corridor would be set up in Mithila. “Now every shell that hits Pakistan will be made in my Mithila region,” he said. Targeting the Congress and its allies, Shah accused them of “protecting infiltrators” and claimed that if leaders like Lalu Prasad Yadav and his partners return to power, “the door for infiltrators will open again.” He said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has taken “firm steps” to identify and remove infiltrators across the country. Shah said the previous governments had tolerated unrest and failed to act against illegal arms networks. “If you want a government that allows illegal weapons or one that acts firmly against enemies, you have to decide. Vote for the NDA if you want peace and security,” he added. Reacting to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks, Shah said it was inappropriate to discuss the caste or religion of soldiers serving in the Indian Army. “Rahul Gandhi has spoken about how many people from a certain caste or religion are in our Army. Shame on you, Rahul Gandhi. The Army belongs to all Indians. We honour every soldier who wears the uniform,” he said—(KNO)
